I’m trying to print to a RICOH Aficio MP C5503 MFD, this is working fine through Windows but I’m trying to print to it via a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.5. I have added the printer 4 different ways, via IP, Windows, SMB, and CUPS 1.6.2 with the correct driver I downloaded from the Ricoh website (There is only 1 option) so I know this correct.
I have inputted the user code (Windows it is Valid access). In all 4 cases the print job looks as if it goes to the printer, the printer appears to receive the data as it wakes and the little green light flashes but no print, no errors on either the Mac nor the printer.

I’m fairly new to Macs I can print to HP printers fine but these don’t require a 4 digit code to print. Copiers vary and I'm not familiar with that particular model, but generally when you send a job and it doesn't include the correct PIN or code, the job just gets dumped without producing an error. On the copier itself there should be a job log, that shows the status of recent jobs, that should show what actually happened to the job. Another possibility is that there's a postscript error, and the copier is not configured to print postscript errors, which would cause the print job to just disappear.
You can rule that out by enabling the option to print postscript errors in the Aficio's configuration. We have several Ricoh printers on our campus, and have had to resort to installing Gutenprint on all of the Macs that need to print. We are also using the User Codes to track printing by department. With the Macs, each time you print, you have to manually tick the 'Enable User Code' box, then input the user code. Not all of our Ricoh printers are capable of AirPrint.

So to get around it, I have downloaded and installed on one of the MacMini's. Then you share the printer you want to connect to off the MacMini.
